Module passed YOU GOT A PASS!
This demonstrates a student receiving PASS status for their first Module.
ok
Exercise 01
These are the five shapes, using a two-note-per-string fingering. Start off by memorising these shapes, because you can then use them for all minor pentatonic scales.

Get a module pass first
In order to go for Gold on this exercise, you need to Pass the module first.
Revisit any Failed exercises and Pass them, then come back and Go for Gold.
Exercise 02
This is similar to Exercise 1, but now you have to isolate the root note (A) at the end of each shape. It's important that you do this in time with the click... you have to know where these notes are, without stopping to think!

Roots are very important because we need to know where we are all over the fretboard.. and you clearly know it with this submission!.. you got every single root in the shape. Perfect timing and playing. Congrats. Another gold star for this!
Exercise 03
The second note in the minor pentatonic is the minor 3rd. In the key of A, this is the note C. In this exercise we're isolating the root (A) and the minor 3rd (C) for each shape.

You are doing a really great job! Shapes and roots are in your hands.. and now also the minor 3rd intervals! Every single note is played perfectly in this submission and I like the way you are muting the other strings and keep the sound nice and clean! Congratulations…..guess what….another gold star!
Exercise 04
Below the root is the minor 7th (G) so now we'll isolate just the root and minor 7th for each position. Don't worry too much about WHY these notes are called minor 3rd, minor 7th, etc. These names come from the major scale.

Here we have a gold collection! You got the minor 7th intervals! Great work! Perfect timing as ever and really clear sound! You are doing a great job, keep up the great work! Congrats!
Exercise 05
To summarise what we've done so far, this exercise has little phrases using the root (A),minor 3rd (C) and minor 7th (G).

This is very good! You mix perfectly the minor 3rd, minor 7th and root. You got the exercise completely nailed here once again. Perfect timing, perfect picking and perfect dynamics! Another gold for you, congrats!
Lick 01
This lick is based around what we practised in Exercise 5... the root, minor 3rd and minor 7th. It moves from Shape 1 to Shape 2, and then briefly down to Shape 5 (just for that C note on the 5th string).

I can hear the groove in your playing! You played this lick perfectly! Amazing sound! I can hear every single note clearly. You got the lick, you got the groove and time feel.. you got another gold! Congrats!
Lick 02
Again, isolating those three notes from Exercise 5, but this time we start in Shape 5 and move up to Shape 1 and Shape 2. Try bending those C notes SLIGHTLY for a bluesy sound. Even though you're pushing it towards C# (the major 3rd) it'll still sound cool in the key of A minor.

This module you are the gold star master so far! This time I can hear lots of energy in your playing, which is a really good thing! Your timing, picking and sounds are perfect as ever. Congratulation Sary, keep up the hard work!
Task 01
Task:
Play all of the root notes from Shape 1, through one octave (up and back down again).

Great effort here! Shapes 1, 2 and 3 are absolutely perfect. You played all three on time and they were very clear sounding. Some improvements to make: During Shape 4, the second note you played was the 5th instead of the root note that was required. We will be covering 5th intervals later in Module 2. Also, during Shape 5 there are 3 root notes to be played. You correctly played two of them on the 6th and 1st strings but missed the root note on the 3rd string at the 14th fret. Try this again, and i am sure that you will get gold!
Task 02
Task:
Transpose Exercise 3 into the key of F minor.

The exercise in general is correct, you got the shapes and the intervals are ok. Unfortunately, the main mistake is that you played in the key of F# minor.. you just need to play everything you played but one half step down.. we have F at fret 1.. you started at fret 2 (F#)!

Super!! You did a perfect job! Timing is perfect, I can clearly hear every note.. very good dynamics on each picking note.. no mistakes, no noise.. you got the shapes. Congratulations! This is definitely worthy of a gold star!
